October 21-23, 1998
George Washington University
Washington, D.C.
U.S.A.

The focus of this workshop is to identify, present and discuss theoretical and implementation issues critical to the design of land and satellite based mobile cellular and microcellular, wireless personal communi-cations as well as wireless local-area networks. The workshop will feature a mix of papers addressing both systems and networking issues.

Original contributions are sought in the areas of but not limited to:

  • Multi-user channels, receiver design and channel modeling issues
  • Antenna techniques
  • Channel equalization
  • Spread spectrum techniques
  • Multiaccess methods and their performance analysis
  • Analytical techniques and capacity evaluation of wireless networks
  • Teletraffic issues
  • Modeling and characterization of mobility
  • Mobility management and call control
  • Handoff strategies and implementation
  • Power control algorithms and implementations
  • Dynamic channel assignment
  • Network control and signaling
  • Routing schemes and optimization
  • Network architecture and intelligent network concepts
  • Feature interaction and management
  • Universal personal telecommunications issues
  • Mobile computing
  • Internet access in wireless networks
  • The workshop will feature distinguished speakers and a number of high quality technical presentations.
